Not While I’m Looking

Not While I'm Looking

Not While I’m Looking

 by Avlen L’rae

Sometimes I think about the dark and it scares me;

sometimes it does.

But the thing I try to remember

is nothing ever comes . . .

‘least not while I’m looking.

Sometimes I like the flowers I see;

other times, no.

The thing that really bothers me

is they never seem to grow . . .

‘least not while I’m looking.

Sometimes you frighten me so;

sometimes you do.

But there’s a barrier I put up

you cannot get through . . .

‘least not while I’m looking.

Sometimes I’m afraid to die;

other times, no.

But I tell myself

I’m not ready to go . . .

‘least not while I’m looking.
